My Favorite Art Books

I'm a hoarder of books. I believe that you can never have too many and continuing education, especially art education, is essential to staying current, growing and learning what you need to be successful at doing what you love. I average about one new book a week. Some really give me the kick I need and others are duds. I take what I can from all of them and then form my own opinions and plan of action for what I want to accomplish. Sometimes i need help with business and other times I'm searching for new techniques or important fundamentals of painting. In either case, I have listed the books I've the loved the most over the last couple years. Maybe one of these will be just the thing you need to boost your creativity?

Currently my favorite inspirational book for getting over fear and getting back to making art.

Art and Fear: Observations on the Perils and (Rewards) of Artmaking by David Bayles and Ted Orland

An absolute MUST for color lovers. Probably the most thorough and well explained book on color theory and mixing that I've seen.

Color: A Course in Mastering the Art of Mixing Colors by Betty Edwards
