True Colors June 2019 Guest Artist: Pamela J Bates
Always a creative at heart, I have been creating in some form or another for as long as I can remember. I am overjoyed that my art now hangs in collectors’ homes all over the world including Australia, Ireland, New York, California, and many places in between. I have employed many different mediums including paint, pastel, charcoal, pencil, wood, fabric, thread, digital illustration, and photography; both film and digital.
I owned my own business for 22+ years, designing communications and consulting to help clients grow. A visit to the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum in Boston and standing in front of Singer Sargent’s incredible El Jaleo at an especially challenging time in my life, changed everything and brought me back to my love of creating with my hands. It led me to where I am now; painting with acrylics and watercolors, and gathering inspiration from nature and the small moments that make life beautiful.
I paint abstracts, intuitive, landscapes & seascapes, and florals and am continually experimenting with new ways of creating that speak to my mission of ‘finding and spreading joy through soul-fueled art’. I was thrilled to have my first solo exhibit at the end of 2018 and have shown my work in Boston, MA and throughout coastal NH. I grew up a mile from the beach in NH and can’t imagine ever living away from its magic. I live in Stratham, NH with my husband Garrett, and dog Chance surrounded by nature and not far from the ocean.
